Serving the Public Interest
      While Nantucket is small, it is not the smallest town in the state, nor is it exempt from the state ethics laws because it is small. With official population estimates topping 10,000, Nantucket has more than enough citizens to fill government jobs and volunteer boards without officials violating the state ethics laws.

      With five candidates running for two seats on the Board of Selectmen, four candidates running for two seats on the Historic District Commission, two candidates for one HDC alternate seat and two candidates for one seat on the Planning Board, the political season should be colorful this year.
